Smaller businesses can look to their example to improve their own practices. They can see how easily it is achieved and the publicity that comes along with doing so.
These companies are at the top of the heap when it comes to plastic recycling but they haven’t stopped there. Many are nearing the goal of becoming almost 100 % recyclable in all their practices.

The plastic recycling and other sustainability efforts of this grocery giant have not gone unnoticed. With a current recycling rate of 51 % they are maximizing efforts every year to make that amount even higher. They work with Waste Management, one of North America’s biggest companies for recycling as of 2015.
In 2013 they reported not only almost 9,000 tons of low-density polyethylene and mixed plastics were recycled, but also 230,000 tons of cardboard, and 4,000 tons of paper! It is these impressive efforts that have others in the industry striving to match them.
Nestle is another company that has goals when it comes to plastic recycling. By 2018, the company wants to achieve a 60 % recycling rate for plastic PET bottles. They’re trying to figure ways to make recycling more accessible to the general public, and raise awareness overall. The sad fact is that in the United States in 2015, around 30 % of households don’t have access to recycling.
Nestle Waters is partnered with Keep America Beautiful 開離岸公司 which promotes awareness and educates the public as to the importance of recycling. They want to find ways to collect more of their bottles for plastic recycling.
Method has introduced the first bottle made from ocean plastic. It’s a mix of both ocean plastic and consumer plastic recycling in an effort to reduce waste. Not only are they helping the environment but they are saving a fortune, and giving their company a good name. Many realize that plastics in the ocean are a huge threat not only to marine wildlife but the planet as a whole.
Every bottle that Method has designed to house their soaps and other green cleaning products is made from 100 % recycled materials, and they pride themselves on ensuring that their over 100 products are C2C or Cradle to Cradle certified. This means they are assessed by a team of scientists to ensure all ingredients, packaging elements, processes and practices are completely green.
Much of the launch of the “Closed Loop Fund” is attributed to Walmart. They actually arranged a summit with 30 experts to discuss how to increase plastic recycling efforts among other types in America. This was back in 2013 and today they have a zero waste policy they’re striving for. More than 81 % of the materials that flow through their stores, distribution centers and other facilities are being kept from landfills. Their focuses include:
